United Way's 211 service is a vital resource that provides free and confidential assistance to individuals in need of support. Operated and funded in part by local United Ways, the 211 service connects individuals with a wide range of services and resources. By contacting 211, individuals can speak to a live specialist who can help connect them with the help they need. 

How to Contact 211

To use United Way's 211 service, individuals in need of assistance can contact 211 by phone, through the app, or online. You can call 211 by either dialing 2-1-1 or by calling toll-free at 866-892-9211. You can also access services and assistance programs through the website at www.SC211.org. The service is free to contact and all inquiries are kept completely confidential. Phone lines and online access areas are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and services are available in over 180 different languages. By contacting 211,  individuals can talk to a live specialist who can help connect them to a wealth of services and resources in their area.

The City of Florence has partnered with the Pee Dee Regional Transportation Authority (PDRTA) to offer teens (ages 12 attending 7th grade to ages 18 attending 12th grade) free transportation from school to The Teen Hub. The Teen Hub offers a safe environment to go after school and activities include but are not limited to study time, college prep, community building, and job readiness.

The City of Florence Teen Hiring Event if focused on providing youth adults ages 16-20 the opportunity to apply for part-time and full-time positions with over 10 companies on site. Employers conducted on-site interviews and the teens were able to leave with job-hunting resources.
