Tropical Storm Debby Update – City of Florence Operations and Important Information for Residents


The City of Florence alongside Florence County and its emergency management personnel are closely monitoring Tropical Storm Debby.

Curfew

The curfew implemented by Florence County in response to Hurricane Debby is no longer in effect. If you have any questions regarding the curfew, please contact the Florence County Emergency Management Division at (843) 665-7255.

City Operations

City of Florence offices will remain open as weather conditions permit.

The Alligator Road Flushing Initiative originally scheduled to begin Monday, August 5th is postponed. The City will notify the public of a new start date for the initiative once it has been rescheduled.

The Jayne H. Boswell Animal Shelter will be closed to the public beginning Wednesday, August 7th through Friday, August 9th.

Non-Emergency Line

The city would like to provide residents and visitors with phone numbers to call for non-emergency events, such as water or sewer service disruptions, downed trees, flooded or blocked streets, and other public safety concerns. For non-emergency calls, please use 843-665-3236 or 843-665-3191. You can also text "Hey Cy" to (855) 964-3929 to report any of the non-emergencies mentioned above. As always, for emergencies, please call 911.

Garbage Collection

The Sanitation Division plans to run garbage and yard waste collection this week as scheduled as long as weather conditions allow. Recycling WILL NOT be collected beginning Wednesday, August 7th through Friday, August 9th. Should weather conditions deteriorate, collection may be postponed ensuring the safety of our workers.

Stormwater Management

The City of Florence Public Works department is actively clearing and servicing low-lying areas of Florence and the surrounding area. Residents are encouraged to report any potential stormwater issues by calling (843) 665-3236 or texting "Hey Cy" to 855-964-3929.
